5.  WELLHEAD PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

  • Committee Reports
    • ProActive Business – January IGC Business Visit report attached; Thank You letters to all 2003 participating businesses prepared; canvassing participants for program effectiveness; cogitating on work plan to undertake after April 1
    • Potential Contaminant Source Inventory Update – final hard copy and digital version of Updated PCSI distributed to al Districts, some Districts needing further corrections; PCSI contractor and Julia have met with County Building Official (Jeff Forry) to add toggle on Final Building permits to indicate contaminants on-site, making the bi-annual data search much easier
    • Household Contaminant Disposal – newest TV spot w/ ice fishing activity on air; planning for April disposal event
    • Education & Awareness – 319 Grant Work Plan approved by Department of Ecology; legal ad placed in Valley News Herald soliciting graphic artist for comic/color book series; nearing start of Virtual Field Trip 2 for Youngsters; booth at Sunrise Elementary Science Fair w/Vera; MacDonald Elementary Science Fair booth 2/26
    • Website – total website visits for January 2004 = 1918 
    • Emergency Planning – formulation of Emergency Call-up List and Draft Mutual Aid Agreement in preparation.  Any member wishing to join this subcommittee, please contact Julia, 363-1066.
  • PROGRAM LEADER REPORT – Julia McHugh

 

a) Aquifer Atlas reprinting – next meeting scheduled for March 24th; Dennis Owsley, IDEQ, has field studies that redefine the aquifer boundary between Round Mountain and the Chilco Channel – after scientific review/acceptance, and if within the printing time frame, this new boundary will be included in the revised Atlas.  Kerry Brooks, WSU Landscape Architecture GIS Lab, has 2 good satellite images of July 1986 and 2003, and has begun processing to produce the ‘Change Map’, which will depict past and present development over the Aquifer.

b) Coeur d’Alene Basin cleanup info:  www.basincommission.com.  The Washington Citizen Advisory Committee meets 2nd Thursday of month @ City Water conference room, 6:00 p.m.

 c)  Friends of the Aquifer –  no news, Feb 18 Spokesman Review editorial attached

 d) Guest Speaker in March – Mr. Stan Miller, County Water Quality Management Program on sampling program
