    • ProActive Business – Reminder! Best Management Practices manual available on CD – if you have a medical or dental or veterinary facility in your district, call Julia to get copies to provide to them. Ecology completed 10 IGC visits in the Spokane area in April.  Seeking to sponsor an Internship related to aquifer protection – Ecology intern has taken full-time position
    • Potential Contaminant Source Inventory Update – draft letter & Business Guide prepared for 2005 list recipients; expecting to send ~4,000 letters.  Contractor waiting on a few Districts to return edited PCSI; Regional PCSI exploration underway with Idaho counterparts
    •  Household Contaminant Disposal – April Household Contaminant Turn-in Saturdays –Total Turned in = 4290 lbs.
      • April 1 Liberty Lake, .75 T collected (1500 #), 3  S.C.O.P.E. Volunteers
      • April 8 Otis Orchards, .19T collected (380 #), 5 S.C.O.P.E. Volunteers  None on April15 – (Easter),
      • April 22 6303 E. Sprague, ~.48T collected (~950#), 4 S.C.O.P.E. Volunteers
      • April 29 Millwood, .73T (1460#),  1 S.C.O.P.E. Volunteer
      • Materials approx. divided as follows: 2/3 paint & products, 1/6 motor oil, 1/6 landscape products.  Thank you letters sent to Fire District, Fire Stations, volunteers.  Awaiting April comparison tally from SRSWS
      • April 29th – Spring Greening – 4 T collected from 61 homes (2T Household, 2T Paint)
    •  Education & Awareness – Aqua Duck appearance at City’s Water Stewardship kickoff event May 4th a hit!  Thank you ERIN CASCI for notable Aqua Duck performance!  KSPS Poster-Poetry contest winners selected and will receive prizes; three winning posters will become postcards. Per mid-contract report, KSPS continues to hold workshops, distribute’ Water’ books w/ SAJB bookplate, and run TV spots. Updated Placemat map being formulated– Lawton Printing donating paper, enabling ~200,000 to be printed @ $.05ea; City and County have agreed to providing staff and a share of printing costs; other cost-sharing partners being sought
    •  Website – total website sessions for April 2006 = 1382
    •  Wellhead Protection Area Committee – May 12 meeting to discuss how to identify/define a “special” wellhead capture zone that can be supported with the groundwater model; Lloyd Brewer has provided two iterations of wellhead capture zones, depicting 1) time of travel with existing gpm data and 2) time of travel with projected gpm; Protection zone size and function were also discussed
    •  Emergency Planning – repeat information:  Contact Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Snyder 477-2592 or Deputy Travis Pendell 477-6044, if you wish to have an on-site review of your facility to improve system security.

Guest speakers Ms. Camille Martin, Ms Lisa Brown, Ecology Toxics Waste Reduction, to present the medical facility Best Management Practices Manual

 1) Steve Skipworth to address final draft of state water conservation rules – comments due between July 1 and end of August.

 2) ID/WA Aquifer Study – Policy Advisory Committee mtg 4/11/06 – discussion of public meeting Study Roll-out tentatively scheduled for May 1, 2, and 3 2007 @ Center Place at Mirabeau.  Evening 1 – electeds receive awards, lay public is informed of study results & goals for next 2 days.  Day 2 Technical – abbreviated version of previous night then breakout sessions on subjects chosen by tech team.  Day 3 Policy – a.m. – model capabilities and how it should be used; p.m. – water policy issues discussion, incl. how model may be applied, where it is housed, how adjudication and metering fits in, stakeholder input, any other issues.  for past aquifer studies USGS Web page:  https://wa.water.usgs.gov/projects/svrp/ Idaho Dept of Water Resources https://www.idwr.idaho.gov/hydrologic/projects/svrp/

 3) Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) May 11 meeting attended by Dave Enos – ‘following a state-wide and tribal meeting, a template is being constructed for agencies to craft their own program plan’

4) Aquifer Protection Council –meeting @ Ecology May 16  – The city and county Critical Materials Lists were discussed at length; Wellhead Capture Zones and Special Protection Zones were also discussed.  Idaho Panhandle Health and IDEQ updated aquifer protection legislation information and discussed vehicle washing issues

5) June 22 Guest Speaker – Mr. Bruce Rawls, Spokane County Utilities Director, to discuss treated wastewater dispensation

6) Julia out of office Monday and Tuesday, May 29 & 30
