  • Post Falls request for additional water rights to meet growth demands.
  • Resolution 2002-05 Authorizing Contract for Virtual “Tour” utilizing Internet sites.

5.  WELLHEAD PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

  • Committee Reports
    • ProActive Business – Ecology internship program underway, focusing on automotive and auto body shops, Dry Cleaners and Dentists
    • Potential Contaminant Source Inventory –  master edit list underway, map revisions soon to follow
    • Household Contaminant Disposal –waiting on data from Regional Solid Waste to determine if increase in contaminants turned in as a result of HCD event.
    • Education & Awareness – public survey results; scheduling Aqua Duck appearances; Water Weeks planning
    • Emergency Planning – Preparedness questionnaire attached – Please complete and Julia will collect by the end of October

 

  • PROGRAM LEADER REPORT – Julia McHugh

a)      Road signs @ DOT – due to work backlog, estimate installation by end of August.   Idaho Department of Transportation has declined our request to post same or similar sign on Westbound I-90 at the stateline.

 b)      2002 Potential Contaminant Source Inventory returned letters to date = 1.  In 2000 there were two boxes of returned pieces of mail

 c)      Mark Williams, Williams Environmental, AWWA Research Foundation consultant for study to measure/demonstrate the benefits of wellhead programs; visiting Spokane the week of September 23rd – hopes to visit with a cross section of District Managers.

 d)      Watershed Resource Inventory Analysis WRIA – no meeting until September

 e)      Idaho Dept. of Environmental Quality provided a contact list of North Idaho purveyors; letter of invitation and suggestion of a get-together meeting sent to 113 purveyors

 f)       Ecology proposed rule for Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR)– public comment period and hearings on draft rule to be held August 27 Kennewick, August 28 Federal Way.  Storing or ‘banking’ water underground for use in drier seasons.  This rule will establish standards for review of ASR projects and will authorize Ecology to issue reservoir permits.       Website for details: www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/wr/asr/asr-home.htm
