KSPS and SAJB invited students K-6 in the KSPS listening area to create a multi-media public service announcement about protecting the aquifer. Winning entries were selected at each grade level with one grand prize winner receiving an ipad mini. KSPS coordinated the judging and selection of winning entries. Meade 5th grade Environmental days, held at Bear Lake, involve all 5th graders in 6 learning experiences including, stormwater, aquifer, clean air, wildlife, EnviroStars and what everyone can do to protect our environment.
WSU, CWU, Uof I and the University of Utah are collaborating on a NSF and USDA funded research grant named WISDM. Tung Nguyen and Heather Baxter explain the technical aspects to modeling the Spokane River ‘s low flow trends in a changing environment.
Fire District 9 – 3801 East Farwell Road, Mead, WA invites the community to see fire management demonstrations. Food, vendors, health and local agencies provide information and fun for everyone.
The Spokane STEMposium is a one-day event at WSU Spokane that provides middle school and high school students the opportunity to present their STEM projects in a conference setting. Students prepare technical papers, three-dimensional posters and PowerPoint presentations. Projects are evaluated by industry experts. Students with projects earning a superior rating will receive a prize.

The Spokane Aquifer Joint Board is recognized by the American Water Works Association as the 2014 Exemplary Source Water Protection Award recipient in the ‘Very Large/Mixed System’ category. Awards will be given on June 6, 2014 at the annual Conference in Boston Mass.
