North Spokane Irritation District #8 was created in 1908, as the Morgan Acres Water Company, to supply domestic water and irrigation service to the Morgan Acres Land Development Company. In 1922 the District was incorporated as an “Irrigation District” with its boundaries essentially as they are today. The original wooden water tank was replaced in 1923 by a 100,000 gallon steel tank. Major construction has slowly, steadily taken place to increase distributional ability. The district has combined pumping capacity of 5,000 GPM (gallons per minute). Through Farmers Home loans and CDBG, 85% of the Districts main lines have been replaced since 1980. Distribution line pressure has increased from 39 lbs. to 75 lbs. with the construction of a two million gallon reservoir in 1982. The District’s short and long term goal is to provide a safe potable water supply to its population and provide adequate fire protection. North Spokane Irrigation District #8 provides water to 757 customers.
