5.  WELLHEAD PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

  •  Committee Reports
    • ProActive Business – agreement for second intern sent to Olympia; expected start date is July 1, 2003; month-end IGC visits report available at meeting.
    • Potential Contaminant Source Inventory – draft inventory update agreement circulating, includes cost, process and data sources under review; biannual updates, annual generation of list and maps for Water District review and corrections, estimated annual cost = $5,040
    • Household Contaminant Disposal –April month-end totals for household waste campaign: 398 calls to the assistance phone line, 10 tons dropped at three Transfer Stations, with just over 7 of those tons considered hazardous household waste.  In Y2002, 16 tons, with 6.3 tons considered hazardous.  RSVP notes a decrease in amounts in areas with consistently high numbers of pickups and increase in areas not previously participating
    • Education & Awareness –TV and radio spots are now on a PSA rotation basis
    • Aqua Duck performance scheduled at Seth Woodard Elementary @ Park & Mission May 27th, and at Pasadena Park Elementary Thursday May 22nd.  Purchased 2,000 additional ‘Story of Drinking Water’ comic books – cost $720 + shipping.
    • Website – skeleton of redesign underway. Website had 1433 sessions for the Month of April
    • Emergency Planning – no activity to report
  • PROGRAM LEADER REPORT – Julia McHugh

a) SPECIAL MENTION – Many thanks to Brad Blegen and Lloyd Brewer for their volunteer time at the Riverfront Park – Earth Day Booth on April 19th.

b) ANOTHER SPECIAL MENTION – Kim Beal, SAJB accountant, is getting married July 12th!

c) Aquifer Atlas reprinting – SCC no longer has a printing program, Spokane County Print Shop cannot do job; Continue to seek pricing for reprinting, awaiting 4th and 5th bids; may have participation from Idaho DEQ by July 1st.

d) Department of Ecology website includes private well logs – https://apps.ecy.wa.gov/welllog/

e) Department of Ecology one-day workshop on Water Conservation, Reclamation and Reuse in Watershed Planning, Wednesday, June 4th, no cost; call Evergreen Rural Water Association to register 800-272-5981.

f) Watershed Planning WRIA’s 55 and 57 – May 21st meeting agenda reflects update of model scenarios, report on Intermountain Province Subbasin Planning.

g) Friends of the Aquifer – involved in IDWR application negotiations w/Silverwood Theme Park and City of Post Falls re: water rights – they have applied for water rights and FoA is protesting due to quantity, no current conservation efforts.

h) Groundwater Foundation accepting nominations for Groundwater Awards in the following categories: local action, education, and government service – any nominations in mind? Due July 14th.
