  • Resolution 2001-08 Business Assistance & Interlocal Agreement with Ecology
  • Local telephone hot-line for Water Quality information

4.  NEW BUSINESS

  • Election of SAJB Officers for two year term beginning in August
  • Definition of majority and voting procedures.

5.  WELLHEAD PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

1)  Water Conservancy Board – three meetings to date; application fee for water rights change set at $100; review fee at $400

2)  Watershed Resource Inventory Analysis WRIA – no meetings until September  19th.

3)  Friends of the Aquifer –  meeting with Governor Locke & Councilwoman Cherie Rodgers Tuesday July 24: ask Governor to contact STB in support of petition by Friends to STB to conduct an EIS on the refueling facility in Rathdrum.

4)  Washington Citizens Action Committee – the Lands Council has organized a rally on July 28th to bring attention and voice demands to have the Coeur d’Alene Basin metals in the Spokane River cleaned up.  Event begins at noon in Riverfront Park, and will include musical entertainment and possible speeches by Senators Murray and Cantwell.

5)  Water Weeks – Opening event location is the Spokane Interstate Fair, on Friday, September 7th, from open to closing; more details as they become available.  Letter requesting funds to support effort is attached.

6)  Water District map in ‘Community Pages’ of the phone book – recontact next April for possible inclusion in Qwest Dex.

7)  Who wants to tour the AVISTA-Cogentrix Energy Plant in Rathdrum?

8) Household Contaminant Disposal Event Wrap-up – Gift Certificate giveaway on Saturday July 14th @ Hangman Valley Greenhouses; filmed,packaged,distributed to stations, viewed on KREM2, July 17th.

9)  ProActive Business Assistance – intern started at Ecology, press release submitted by Ecology announcing the cooperative agreement between Ecology and SAJB – report submitted by Luke Cayer, intern.

10)  Education & Awareness – two video spots launched, two radio spots running.  Kathy Small appearance on KXLY ‘Newsmakers’ radio/tv show, Monday, July 9th.
