GUEST SPEAKER – Ms. Gina Dempsey-Chaparro, Senior Environmental Engineer, Kaiser Trentwood, to address Kaiser status and future directions

 A) Washington Citizen’s Advisory Committee – Coeur d’ Alene Basin/Spokane River cleanup – brief update by Lloyd Brewer

 B) Purveyors mark your calendars!  Wednesday November 1st, second ID/WA purveyor meeting, 1:30 @ Panhandle Health District, N. 8500 Atlas Road, Hayden, ID.  Includes tour of new building with native plantscaping, elaborate storm water capture efforts, green building materials.  Goodies to be provided.

 C) Washington Association of Sewer & Water Districts – new website tying all member organizations and districts together, each responsible for keeping their info up to date.  Conferences, workshops and section meetings will be posted and resulting info posted for retrieval & download, and on-line forums to share ideas and Q&As.  www.waswd.org

D) Federal H.R. 383, Ice Age Floods National Geologic Trail Designation Act, awaiting consideration by Congress.  Intended to increase scientific and historic awareness of Ice Age Floods that created our unique landscape and our priceless Aquifer, by funding various aspects of trail establishment.

E) Aquifer Protection Council – 10/17 meeting– 2 applications for internship received, interviews to be scheduled in late Oct, early Nov.  Preparation of Board of Health presentations intended for Nov & Feb to introduce APC efforts, including looking at existing aquifer protection ordinances and adaptations to make them more effective, including consistency between jurisdictions

F) Idaho/Washington Aquifer Study Conference, May 2007  – Center Place @ Mirabeau, Spokane Valley; Schedule changes! May 8, day – technical details of study w/hydrogeologists, explanation of model, application, outcomes, future use of model. May 8 evening – intro and public mtg w/ study highlights, May 9, 8:30-4:30 – Water Policy

G)  Idaho Water Rights Adjudication schedule update-  Aug 2006 – submit proposed statutory changes to 42-1409 (removing requirement to notarize claims)  Fall 2006 – Court to get appt. from Supreme Court for court assignment to NIA; Oct 2006 – Public informational meetings for cities and counties organized by Lynn Tominaga; Dec 2006 – Director and Judge to meet with N. Idaho legislators to give overview; Winter 2007 – court to initiate the steering committee’ April 2007 – Public meetings conducted by IDWR and Court – Coeur d’Alene (afternoon & evening), Sandpoint, Moscow (evening) – Spring/Summer 2007 – IDWR to revise Water Right Adjudication Rules; August/September 2007 – petition court for commencement. For more information:  https://www.idwr.state.id.us/water/srba/Reports_Issues_Presentations/Court%20112a.pdf
