  • Committee Reports
    • ProActive Business – 22 Increased Generator Contact visits conducted by Ecology during November
    • Potential Contaminant Source Inventory Update – still a couple stragglers!  review/response to the 2004 PCSI, whether  corrections, deletions, additions – still needed; then we set the workplan/budget meeting
    • Household Contaminant Disposal – workplan/budget mtg. upcoming
    • Education & Awareness – workplan and budget mtg. 12/12, 1:30 @ MOBIUS Children’s Museum including review of 2nd Aqua Duck Comic Book
    • Website – total website sessions for Nov 2005 = 1373;  Total through Nov 30, 2005 = 9347
    • Emergency Planning – TAKE NOTE!!!!  Water purveyor workshop Tuesday, 12/13 9 am – noon and Wednesday, 12/14 5 pm to 8 pm  “Purveyor and Local Law Enforcement Training: Improving protection, tools for detection, quickening response, and planning for recovery.”

 Guest Speakers – Ms. Reanette Boese and Mr. Rob Lindsay, Spokane County Water Resources, to address aquifer quality and phosphorus

1) The Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) asks for an SAJB representative to be on the committee. Their mission is “To enhance the protection of the community and the environment from hazardous materials incidents through planning, preparation and communication between citizens, business and government.”  They typically meet the 2nd Thursday of the month, 10 to 11:30 a.m. and enjoy a broad representation of community including: state patrol, fire, police, sheriff, medical, health, transportation, media, facilities with reporting requirements including pipeline, dams, public works, volunteer organizations, water purveyors, and railroad (possible)

2)  REMEMBER the Geographic Response Plan?  The first draft version of the Spokane River GRP is ready for download and review at https://www.rrt10nwac.com/geo_plans.htm.  Recall:  Geographic Response Plan (GRP) – being undertaken by Dept of Ecology and US EPA for the Spokane River. This is a tactical oil spill contingency plan designed to aid response agencies and contractors in identifying access points and resources for deployment to protect the river.  If you have pertinent information, contact: Sean Robertson, Herrera Environmental @ 206-4441-9080 or srobertson@herrerainc.com

3) Irvin Water District’s neighbor, Lawless LLC (Arrow Asphalt/RPI) asphalt plant – no news

4) Aquifer Protection Council – meetings for November and December have been cancelled by the Regional Health District

5) ID/WA Aquifer study – Public update presentation to be held January 26, 2006, after work hours. More news to follow
